McKinley County Metropolitan Dispatch Authority

Welcome to MCMDA.  Opened in December of 1992, we are a consolidated dispatch center
located in Gallup, New Mexico.  Our agency
handles communications for 2 law enforcement, 1 paid, and 20 volunteer fire departments along with a private ambulance service.
MCMDA has 20 telecommunicators, 4
supervisors, and an administrative staff of 7 which includes the Director of Communications, Administrative Operations Manager, Program Specialist, Computer Technician, Data Entry Clerk, Executive Secretary, and Custodian.
MCMDA is an independent agency funded by the City of Gallup and County of McKinley and is governed by a 5 member board.

  • MCMDA has a total of 31 full time employees with 24 dedicated to dispatch. 

  • MCMDA has an annual budget of $1.2 million.

  • MCMDA averages 1,900 9-1-1 calls per month, not counting wireless 9-1-1 calls. 

In addition, there is an average of 5,000 calls per month for dispatch service by our user agencies.  MCMDA also is responsible for the entries,  cancels, locates and validations of over 8,000 warrants, plus the tracking of over 800 domestic violence restraining orders.

MCMDA also serves as the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in the event of a natural or man made disaster.  MCMDA has a back up system located at the New Mexico State Police Office east of Gallup in the event radios and 9-1-1 is lost at MCMDA.
