This is the "heart" of our operation. MCMDA changed from our traditional 12-hour shifts to an 8-hour schedule. We will decide within the next few months which schedule everyone is more comfortable with.
Since we are a consolidated dispatch center, we receive phone calls county-wide for assistance in the areas of Law Enforcement, Fire and Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services. These calls are received by 9-1-1 or by numerous seven digit phone lines.
Our dispatchers are for the most part dedicated to working one console with others "roving" between several of them. Our three main consoles are the the Gallup Police, McKinley County Sheriff, and Fire/EMS. We also have a Supervisor console which handles extra traffic when needed along with two call taker positions
